Pune is famous for his monsoon season too, I just fall in love with Pune monsoon weather every year, your eyes get peace when you will see those greenery hills with hundreds of small waterfalls during this monsoon time and you can touch the cloud by your hand from Fort which is situated in the top of the hill. Pune is the land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj the great warrior and who had invented the skill of Gorila war ( attack opponents suddenly in Jangal and Hill areas).   1. Sinhagad Fort :

Sinhagad Fort is One of the famous fort of Maharashtra for Treeking. This fort located at south western region of Pune. Sinhagad fort has an elevation of 1312 metre above the sea lavel. This fort is famous for the war of Sinhagad in 1671. This fort is almost 1000 years old which make this fort more interesting you must visit this fort when you will come to Pune.

Distance:- 37.4 km from Pune and 180 km far from Mumbai. Trekking distance – 2’5 km which take 1 and half hour. ( 90 minutes approximately)

2. Shaniwar wada Fort :

This fort was built by the Peshwas ( Prime Minister ) of the Maharashtra King ( Chatrapati ) . Under the Peshwai – I the capital of Maratha Empire shifted from Satara to Pune, because the climate and geographical position was most suitable for the Peshwai. You can visit this fort at any time between 9am – 5:30pm. You can spend a quality time with your family and friends. 30rs Entry fee required for this fort and also you have to pay extra money to carry your camera.

Duration :- 4’5 Km Far from Pune Railway Station and 147 km Far from Mumbai.

3. Lohagad fort :

One of the most historical fort of Pune. This fort was built at 18th century. Lohagad fort is a hill fort and favourite place for treeking and nature lover. Lohagad fort is in Khandala near Lonavala hill station. Trekking is the only option to reach the main Lohagad fort but this trekking is very easy and perfect for 1st timers suitable for up to 50 years old. Trekking time is maximum 30 minutes which will give you great experience. The view from the top of the fort is awesome in Monsoon season. The elevation of this fort almost 1033 metres or 3,389 ft. This fort is certainly worthy of a visit.

Distance :- 65’5 Km far From Pune City and 98’5 km from Mumbai .

4. Shivneri Fort :

Shivneri fort is a birthplace of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj which make this fort very special for every Marathas. This fort built at 16th century. It is situated near Junnar Town , Pune. One has to climb almost 400 stairs yes you read it right to reach the main entrance of Shivneri fort. In this fort you can find a mosque , a huge prayer hall and a tomb inside it’s premises with Mughal arts and culture. A Shivai devi temple also is there where Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj did prayer. The fort has elevation of 1067 metres. You should visit this Fort once. No entry fee required for this fort.

Distance :- 95 km Far from Pune and 154 Km far from Mumbai .

5. Rajmachi Fort :

Rajmachi fort is a famous destination for treeking lovers . This fort situated between two hill of Lonavala and Khandala. This fort also known as “Bale Killa”. The elevation of the Killa is almost 3000 ft. It gives a Amazing view from the peak of the fort. You can visit anytime between 9am – 6pm. and no entry fee is required for this fort.

Distance :- 78km from Pune & 100km from Mumbai. Treeking time would be 45 Minutes to 1 Hour.
